If your car’s electric window doesn’t move up and down properly but you can still hear the motor working (or at all for that matter), it might be the case that the window regulator is worn-out and you will therefore need to replace it and possibly the motor too. The window regulator is a set of mechanical componets that enable a car’s window to be cranked up and down. Sometimes you have to replace both and often they come as a unit.
There are after-market regulators available, but they often do not work as well as the main dealer parts in our experience. Below is the picture of a window regulator for an Audi that we worked on recently.
